Pac Coast Day 2

Today was a no incidents day of incidence. About 100 miles into what was to be a short, 338 mile day, fog and mist set in. No weather reports predicted this. I'm told it's a thermal consequence of the hottest days on record in this area. Anyway, i rode 250 miles of fog and mist. Because of road construction delays, one false turn (my bad), and slow going, i didn't arrive until almost 10:00 pm. So the last 50 miles of fog and mist were also darkness. Bless God and blessed be God there were no incidents; this is not the way to take a motorcycle trip. nonetheless, another adventure. What's life for if not adventure.

Only 2 pics today. This part of the world has lots of bridges, so i took a picture. it wouldn't be in the blog except that becasue of the fog i got no other pics of scenery. it was beatiful when i could see it, but that was rare and never clear. Also, because of the delays and slow going, i didn't take time to stop for pictures. So i rode through some of the world's most beautiful coastland but couldn't see it ... i see a make up trip next year.

Of course i include an end of the day picture of Gladys and me. She served me well today. As i rode her through the mist on slick streets, we both were glad she had her 25,000 mile tune up, bath, and new tires in Seattle. She clung to the road like a mountain goat and purred like a kitten.

The end of the first day back on the road, a good day.
Our final sunset from the clergy cabn.

Wild flowers and good night to my sweet love via the moon satelite

Memories for Mom and Dad ... they are wonderful memories for me.

Back on the road again ... freedom reigns. "For freedom Christ set you free."

The hills of western Washington, the evergreen state.

From world class mountain swimmer to ocean kayaker. Ok, if you wanna get technical, Peuget Sound kayaker.

Aha, that's what was missing, pajamas. No! The GnT was missing. It IS vacation.

Betsy swims. Jimmy ponders John's Gospel. Hmmm .... What's missing?
Remember Mountain Lake? It's become Betsy's swimming hole.

Barbie & Ed's backyard.
Biggest crab I ever saw
Is it a keeper ...
"The best haul of the year," says Ed.

Fishing buddies

These Dungeness crabs were caught literally in the Benshoof's back yard. There may be something more delicious, but I've not tasted it. Hence, notice Betsy's interest ... but notice who isn't holding the crabs ... not yet a crab fisherwoman she is.

Just outside the clergy cabin window
Orcas Island's Mountain Lake (creative name ...!)
... and what is happiness ...

Barbie, Ed, and Betsy preparing to land the Dungeness crabs that had been caught ... Ed prefers "catching" to "fishing."

Ed Benshoof ... Mr. hospitality, generosity, and man of faith!

Barbie and Ed's "clergy cabin" A perfect hideaway tucked into the woods about 100 yds. from Eastsound Bay. This is day 8 of 10 days we will spend here.

Barbie & Ed Benshoof graciously invited us to stay in their 17th floor condo during our two day furlough in Seattle. My Greek New Testament, a GnT, and the Seattle skyline ... 'nuf said ...

About 25 miles into Yellowstone. The picture above is leaving Yellowstone
